Can We Do Something About Earth Heating Up Or Is It Too Late?

its not too late to save the Earth

INTRODUCTION

Wildfires and heat waves are telling us that Earth is burning. We are constantly worried about saving the planet Earth. The current situation has led us to think about common questions. The questions we often hear and think include Can we still have time to save Earth? Can we do something to reduce the rising temperature of Earth?

So the answer to prior and latter questions is YES, YES, and, YES.

There is a famous phrase we more often remind ourselves and that is “it’s not too late”. Preventive and mediatory measures can still be taken to help the earth but all the countries of the world would need to make serious changes and take proper actions. CAN WE DO SOMETHING ABOUT EARTH HEATING UP?

We as humans can surely play our role in reducing the severity of the climate crisis. On a global scale, it is the responsibility of world superpowers to implement climate-adaptive policies in their countries. Ironically, the countries that are massively contributing to global greenhouse gases emissions are less likely to suffer severe impacts of climate change as compared to underdeveloped and developing countries.

CAN WE DO SOMETHING TO REDUCE THE RISING TEMPERATURE OF THE EARTH?

Here few mentioned steps can be followed immediately at the national and international level in order to save Earth from further heating up.

a) RAPID LARGE-SCALE AFFORESTATION/REFORESTATION BY ALL THE COUNTRIES OF THIS WORLD

Forests are carbon sink that removes carbon from the atmosphere and balance out the carbon level in the atmosphere. Deforestation is releasing stored carbon back into the atmosphere and resulting in increasing greenhouse effects. So coming back to the starting point, if afforestation is carried out at a large scale around the world, it would definitely have a positive impact on the environment.

b) REDUCING CARBON EMISSIONS/ BANNING GHGs

Reducing carbon emissions such as cutting off fossil fuel combustion can be a significant effort to prevent the predicted rising temperature of the Earth. Shifting to renewable energy sources such as solar and wind power, etc could help in reducing the emission of greenhouse gases.

c) CORPORATIONS BEING BANNED FROM EMITTING GHGs THROUGH CARBON TAX

Corporations should be banned from emitting greenhouse gases through a carbon tax and other legislation. This step is critically important. Because huge companies in the world are responsible for one-third of global carbon emissions.

d) WASTE MANAGEMENT STRATEGIES AROUND THE WORLD

Waste management is definitely an important step in reducing the impacts of climate change. Power can be generated from waste piles because waste releases methane and other harmful toxic gases in the air that again may contribute to global warming and eventually rising Earth’s temperature.

e) ECO-FRIENDLY SUSTAINABLE CITIES

The urban heat island effect leads to hot and dry weather conditions. Urbanization is obviously contributing to greenhouse gases emissions. Eco-friendly and sustainable options should be adopted to reduce the overall heating effect. Along with that, there is an immense need to implement sustainable agriculture practices to save natural resources.

CONCLUSION

The whole world is experiencing the consequences of climate change. Things could get worse over time. If top polluting countries in the world accept their negligence and adopt renewable energy sources, there is the possibility that the negative impacts of climate change can be slowed down. During pandemic and strict lockdown, there was a notable reduction in air pollution. The current time demands immediate actions to tackle the climate emergency. We need to act NOW.
